Like many others, I am finding Lockdown 3 much harder than before and when your job requires you to support and motivate others whilst staying positive, it is sometimes hard to stop the feelings of doom and gloom. So, in the words of Justin Timberlake, I just dance, dance, dance!

Everyday on the TV, on the radio and in the media, we hear and read about the concerns of mental wellbeing and in Home-Start, we can see the impact of this on families. Parents are overwhelmed and stressed, children are missing their friends and normal routines. Grandparents are missing the interaction with their Grandchildren.

On top of this, Home-Start staff and volunteers might be struggling to stay positive and able to encourage others. Whilst we will all give it our best shot, we must recognise the need to rest at times and to find ways to relax. In my case, dancing around my living room, which doesn’t sound particularly relaxing or restful but certainly takes my mind off work and the stress of the day.

We patiently await the next Government announcement to see if we will soon be allowed to physically interact with others. Just to meet family or friends in the garden would be a step forward. I do not expect to be dancing in a room full of people anytime soon but that need to see people in the flesh is getting ever greater. However, we must stay safe and protected from the dreaded virus so on we go with more zoom meetings!

Whilst we wait for some form of normality to return, my message to you is to Just DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!!
