Ever wondered what it’s like to be a trustee at a local Home-Start? Becoming a Home-Trust trustee is one of the most powerful ways you can contribute to your local community.
We need you
Home-Start Spelthorne is an independent charity with Trustees being responsible for directing the management and administration of the charity. Trustees have a wide range of roles but are primarily responsible for making the charity effective, providing overall direction and maintaining sound management of funds.
Trustees need to be able to attend regular meetings approximately once every two months and also be able to devote time outside those meetings to support the charity in delivering its vision.
Home-Start Spelthorne needs Trustees with a variety of skills and experience and from a wide range of backgrounds. Being a Trustee can be hard work, but it is also very rewarding, giving many chances for personal development and the chance to give something back to your local community. Trustees can access training and support from the Home-Start UK dedicated team of specialist consultants and there are opportunities to network with Trustees from other schemes in the region.
Without volunteer Trustees Home-Start Spelthorne couldn’t function and families and children wouldn’t get the support they need. Home-Start Spelthorne is a vital local charity which supports ordinary parents in Spelthorne who are going through extraordinary times. Home-Start Spelthorne is looking for new Trustees…
Could that be you?
Do you have unused talents or professional skills that you would like to put to good use? Have you ever wanted to become more involved with a local charity? Have you considered becoming a Trustee?
There are over 2,700 trustees based in local Home-Starts across the UK. As independent charities, local Home-Starts require trustees to serve on their governing body (board), taking responsibility for directing the management and administration of the organisation. It is a fantastic opportunity to support your local community whilst also developing your skillset.
In order to become a trustee volunteer, you will be required to
- undergo a DBS check
- undergo a selection interview
- commit to the legal requirements of the role
- commit to attend a minimum of four meetings per year
Trustees are fully inducted into Home-Start before beginning their new role; they will receive:
- an induction meeting, introducing Home-Start’s service and your responsibilities
- safeguarding training: providing an overview of safeguarding children
- training as required
- paid expenses
- access to Home-Start’s intranet – full of information and guidance on running a local Home-Start
- the support of specialist staff
