Have you ever wanted to become more involved with a local charity?
Are you busy and have only a limited number of irregular hours you can spare each month?
Do you have unused talents or professional skills that you would like to put to good use?
Have you considered becoming a Friend of Home-Start Spelthorne and meet like-minded people supporting a vital local children’s charity?
Home-Start Spelthorne is a local charity which supports ordinary parents in Spelthorne who are going through extraordinary times. One of our carefully selected volunteers, who has parenting experience, will regularly visit a family in their own home, offering emotional and practical support through difficult times. This parent to parent support is a simple yet effective way of giving hope and enabling families to get back on track.
This kind of volunteering does not suit everyone, but if you can spare a little of your time, not necessarily on a regular basis, to fundraise, organise or support fundraising activities, make crafts for us to sell, bake cakes for events, hold a coffee morning, take part in sponsored events, (the opportunities are endless) on Home-Start Spelthorne’s behalf, then maybe Friends of Home-Start Spelthorne (FOHSS) could be for you.
FOHSS members usually meet once a month for a coffee and a chat somewhere in a Spelthorne coffee shop or garden centre…why not come along to the next meeting? Contact barbara@home-startspelthorne.org for details of the next gathering.
