Spelthorne Borough Council has become one of the first authorities in the UK to set up a food and welfare network to support residents who are struggling to afford food.
Home-Start Spelthorne are proud to be part of the team, co-ordinated by the Council, along side the Borough’s five food banks, Surplus to Supper, Citizens Advice and Voluntary Support North Surrey.
The aim of the network is to bring together the key welfare agencies to streamline processes, share best practice and act as ‘one voice’ for local people.
Cllr Susan Doran, Chair of Spelthorne’s Community Wellbeing and Housing Committee, said “The establishment of the Spelthorne Food and Welfare Network means that we are all moving forward with a common goal and have a much better understanding of the work being carried out by the various agencies and the true impact of the cost-of-living crisis on people in our Borough. We are working on some exciting developments which will make it easier for people to access our services and look forward to announcing these soon.
