Update from Home-Start Spelthorne – Covid 19

Home-Start Spelthorne are open for referrals – Please contact us on Tel no. 01784 463200.

We are gradually making a transition back to resuming a home-visiting service for families. Staff have now returned to working from the office and any visitors will have pre-arranged appointments.  Some families will continue to receive remote support with the option of Walk & Talk support. Each situation will be risk assessed and the most appropriate support will be provided by our volunteers.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and families remains paramount.

Update from Home-Start Spelthorne – Covid 19

Although all the arrangements listed below are still in place, we are hopeful that our staff will be able to return to working from the office and home-visiting very soon.

Home-Start Spelthorne is still supporting families, but we have made some temporary changes due to the current situation:
– The office is closed & staff are working from home
– Emails & phones are being monitored regularly and we are picking up post when we can.
– We are still accepting referrals for our core service supporting families with children under the age of 5 and we have some limited capacity to support targeted families with children up to the age of 11.
– All home-visiting is suspended in line with social distancing guidelines. However, walk & talk support is available if appropriate.
– Families are being supported on the phone and via video chat where possible.
– We are running on online support group for parents via Zoom

Update from Home-Start Spelthorne – Covid 19

During the pandemic, all organisations have been required to make changes and adapt to new ways of working in order to keep services running.  Home-Start Spelthorne has been following Government and Home-Start UK guidance to ensure the safety and well-being of staff, volunteers and the families we are supporting.  Since March, our staff have been working from home and families have been supported by telephone or video calling.

A huge thank you must go to all our staff, trustees and volunteers who have accepted these changes and adapted so well.  Our two new staff have been thrown in at the deep end and despite this, their induction is progressing well.  Everyone is looking forward to the day when we can all meet again face to face.

A risk assessment has been carried out and necessary precautions have been put in place to enable our Administrator, Hazel, to return to the office to work.  It is likely that the other staff members will not return to the office before September.  Visitors are NOT permitted to the office without prior consent and meetings will continue to be via Zoom for the time being.

Sadly, some activities and events have been cancelled or postponed, including our AGM, but we continue to liaise with referrers, funders, local authorities and other organisations to ensure we are working together to provide an ongoing service for families.

Home-Start Spelthorne Statement on Coronavirus

At Home-Start Spelthorne, we take the health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and families very seriously and following Government guidance, our staff will continue to work from home for a few more weeks…please remember we are still here and our staff are on hand at the end of the telephone or via email.  Home-visits to families by both staff and volunteers are still on hold for the time being.

We understand that self-isolation may bring additional concerns for families so where possible and where appropriate, a weekly phone call to families will be offered as an alternative to a home-visit.

We will continue to accept referrals and will contact families on receipt of the referral with a view to visit them once the Government guidance changes.

The office phone line will still be in use with messages being picked up throughout the day. Alternatively, you can contact us via email at: info@home-startspelthorne.org

We appreciate your support and understanding during this challenging time.
