As we enter our thirtieth year, it feels only right to pause and reflect—and, most importantly, to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Home-Start Spelthorne over the past three decades. Your generosity, time, and belief in what we do have made a lasting difference to families across our community.
Together, we have so much to celebrate. Over the years, we have supported thousands of children, helping their families through some of life’s most challenging moments. Behind these numbers are real stories of resilience, compassion, and hope—and none of it would have been possible without the dedication of our staff and volunteers. Their enthusiasm, care, and commitment continue to make a meaningful impact every single day.
I would like to pay special tribute to Mandy, who was recruited to establish Home-Start in Spelthorne and has led the organisation for almost 31 years, an incredible achievement. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the charity into what it is today. Throughout her time, she has navigated the many challenges that come with working in the charity sector—from securing suitable premises and recruiting volunteers and staff, to ensuring sustainable funding.
In recent years, those challenges have only grown, with particularly difficult funding conditions. Mandy has shown remarkable resilience, determination, and optimism, guiding both the organisation and the trustee board with clarity and strength. Her contribution has been invaluable, and she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to benefit families for years to come.
As Mandy embarks on a new chapter with her retirement at the end of June, we extend our warmest thanks and very best wishes for the future.
At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Michelle, our Family Support Manager, into the role of overall Manager. Michelle brings with her a deep understanding of our work, a passion for supporting families, and a strong commitment to our values. We look forward to working with her as we continue to build on our proud history and look ahead to the future.
