Summer/Autumn Activities in Spelthorne
Many playgroups and baby classes close for the Summer holidays so you may be worried about what you’re going to do with the kids during the long break. Fear not, there are still lots of things to do and we’ve put together a list of affordable activities for young families.
Bedfont Lakes Country Park
Bedfont Lakes is a beautiful nature reserve with two children’s play areas, a small farm (£1 per person entry) and special events and activities for children during school holidays. They have some special activities planned this August, more information can be found on their Facebook page.
Wednesdays 10am-12pm – Wildlife Explorers (age 3+) £6 per child
Thursdays 10am-12pm – Toddler Town (under 5s) £4 per child
Thursdays 2:30-3:30pm – Nature Crafts, £3 per child
Fridays 10am-12pm – Fancy Dress Fairy-tale Friday, £6 per child

Bouncing Bunnies Play Café
Bouncing Bunnies is a family run play café in Ashford. There are plenty of toys on offer, rhyme time at 11am and a range of hot and cold food and drinks.
Bouncing Bunnies will be open during the Summer holidays Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9am-1pm. The indoor area is for pre-schoolers and the outdoor area is suitable for children 10 and under.

Busy B’s Play Café
Busy B’s is a family run play café in Staines. There are lots of toys and a bouncy castle for the children to enjoy. The café serves a range of hot and cold food and drinks.
During the holidays Busy B’s will be open Monday-Friday 9:30am-2:30pm.

Family Fun Day at Stanwell Family Centre
Stanwell Family Centre are organising a Family Fun Day on Tuesday 2nd August 11am-2pm. There will be a show from ‘the Reptile Man’, face painting, teddy bear’s picnic, garden play, games and car boot sale.

Hounslow Urban Farm
A lovely family farm with goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits and alpacas. The farm also has a range of exotic animals from The Tropical Zoo, including snakes, lizards, mini-beasts, frogs and tortoises. Don’t miss the animal encounters where you can get up close and personal with the animals.
Children under 2 are free. Free candyfloss for every child during Summer holidays.

Kiddabulous
Kidabulous is a large indoor soft play area in Sunbury-on-Thames, suitable for all children aged 12 years and under. There is a separate Toddler Town area for children aged 4 and under which is dedicated to imaginary play.

Lammas Park
The Lammas Recreation Ground is a family park right next to the River Thames. The park has two children’s playgrounds and a splash park which is open during the Summer 10am – 4.45pm with an hour break between 1-2pm to refill the water tanks.

Staines Town Centre
This Summer, Two Rivers will be hosting ‘Memorable Mondays’ with a different free activity each Monday 11am-4pm
Monday 1st August – Route Master Bus, Arts and Crafts and Face Painters
Monday 8th August – Punch & Judy, Balloon Art & Magic Shows
Monday 15th August – Fun at the Fair: old fashioned fair-ground games including Tin Can Alley, Hook a Duck, High Striker and Candy Floss
Monday 22nd August – Back to School Scavenger Hunt – follow the scavenger hunt to be entered into a giveaway to win a back to school pack, consisting of uniform, stationary, lunch boxes and more

Stanwell Local Conversation
The ‘Local Conversation in Stanwell’ are running some activities over the Summer, all activities can be booked online at https://clubspark.net/localconversationinstanwell. All activities are free but for those that can afford it, a donation of £1 per child is encouraged.

Sunbury Garden Play
Described as a ‘Creative Outdoor Play Venue’ Sunbury Garden Play is a truly unique play experience for young children. Children are encouraged to get messy and explore nature in the large garden with sandpit, veg patch, water sprinkler and trampoline.
Open Thursdays and Fridays during the Summer, there are two sessions 9:30-11:30am and 12:30-2:30pm. Booking is essential.

Surrey Libraries
Surrey Libraries are free to join and you can borrow up to 20 books per person for free. You can also borrow dvds and audiobooks. The libraries run a free 30 minute rhyme time which is suitable for children under 5.

Hampton Kempton Waterworks Railway
They offer a low-cost family day out with steam train rides, with free parking and a lovely picnic area with countryside tables and a play train. Fares are £2 per child, under 3s free, and £4 per adult.
In addition to their normal Sunday train rides, they run very popular special railway events for families to enjoy throughout the summer. Some of the events are advanced online booking only through their website. Price of tickets may vary. https://hamptonkemptonrailway.org.uk/

After your ‘roarsome’ train ride, why not enjoy your ‘dinosaur’ picnic on our lovely picnic field with countryside tables? There’s also a great play area where the kids can run around freely and pretend to be a train driver on our ‘Kempton Flyer’ play train. Or take a walk in our new Spiky Wood – watch out though for those scary raptors!
Make it a weekend of steam!
They are also open some Saturdays, when their other attraction Kempton Steam Museum, right next door to the railway is also open, offering special steaming weekends and events by advanced online booking through their website Kempton Steam Museum. The railway and museum do not issue a joint ticket.
