The Chair of our PR and Fundraising Committee, Christine Knight, recently sent this letter to all our supporters, volunteers and friends. Can you help, do you have any new ideas?
HOME-START FUNDRAISING IDEAS – Let me first introduce myself. I am Christine Knight and have been a Trustee at Home-Start for 3 years and recently became Chair of the Public Relations & Fundraising Sub-Committee.
We have recently reviewed a list of fundraising ideas, so we thought we’d share a summary of our conclusions. We hope this will give you an insight into where you are can join us and the whole Home-Start team to ensure the scheme is fully funded and we can continue to undertake the invaluable work that we have offered to parents and children in Spelthorne over the last 25 years. We are reliant on this type of fundraising for roughly a third of our total costs with the other two-thirds raised through grants.
SUMMARY OF FUTURE FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
• SALES – eg Kempton, Shepperton, Staines and Stanwell. Possibly an annual car boot to clear excess or old stock.
• COLLECTIONS –loose change boxes, Kempton Family Race Day collection, children’s tea party, legacies from Wills, gift vouchers, general donations, eg winter fuel allowance, Christmas card design competition and sale 2022.
• SOCIALS – H-S friends coffee morning/garden parties/fizz & strawberries, film night at Shepperton or Vue, craft session with refreshments, quiz night, meal at local restaurant, secret auction
• SUPPORT FROM OTHER ORGANISATIONS – we will seek to become the chosen charity for other organisations fund raising events, eg Scouts, Rainbows and Brownies, Corporate Companies, Colleges, match funding, company give-back to the community days.
• SPONSORED EVENTS – seeking to get people to select us as their charity when they raise money from sponsored swims, runs or walking challenges or for school mufti or Christmas jumper day.
